Willett Elementary
CompostingWillett's sixth grade students are responsible for the school's composting. Extra fruits and vegetables are also recycled through their "Apples for Animals" program, which diverts excess compostable waste to area farm animals - in particular several friendly goats at a local farm, Impossible Acres.Carolyn Teragawa, Garden Coordinator, works with the students, the recycling coordinator and the 6th grade teachers to manage the composting component of the program.
CustodianJean Echeverria handles custodial duties for Willett, including the recycling project.Site Recycling CoordinatorSally Hirst works as the liason between Willett's recycling needs and the district Garden/Recycle coordinator. She is on-site almost daily helping the students with their sorting and composting.
